After yesterday's... interesting BEDM installment, I'd like to take things down a notch by doing something I always do when I have nothing to write about. Writing about a TV programme! Tonight, feast your eyes on Community.
Here's the starting premise:
Now this trailer doesn't even begin to do the series justice. It evolves from the theme of 'lawyer learns to love bunch of misfits' after about 6 episodes and then it flourished into absolutely one of my favourite comedies. It also becomes a true ensemble show, with equal focus on all the characters through different episodes - it stops being all about Jeff.
It has killer character comedy, pop culture gags and physical humour but I think the thing I love about it most is that when all the characters are established, the series can show a vast variety of types of episodes and still be incredibly heartwarming. One week it can do this:
This entire episode was a satire of action movie clichés while advancing the character stories and being hilarious. Very admirable. However, it can also produce material like this:
Best bromance on TV!
Honestly, it's a really sweet show that wears it's heart on it's sleeve. Watch it online. Seriously.
